A Critical Survey on Secure Data Aggregation (SDA) in Wireless Sensor Networks

Data aggregation is commonly used method to reduce communication overhead in wireless sensor networks by combining data received from different sensors and by removing redundancies. The intermediate nodes perform data aggregation task called aggregator nodes. In open and hostile environment aggregator nodes are target for attackers to falsify the aggregation result, and base station accepting incorrect aggregation data. Therefore, security of aggregated data becomes a critical requirement. Various protocols have been presented for data aggregation with security in WSNs. In the paper, we present a survey on secure data aggregation protocols with their advantages and limitations.
